Governor Seyi Makinde has banned officers of the Police Force from protests ground in the state.
The governor announced this in an address on Monday afternoon following the clash that occurred between police officers and protesters in Ogbomosho on Sunday.
“The last few days have been one grief for the people of Oyo State. I can not imagine the pain and frustration of the parents and families of those who have died or hospitalized as a result of the actions of the Nigerian Police Force during this #EndSARS protests.
“As I stated clearly in my earlier statement, peaceful protests are a legitimate way for citizens to make their grievances known to the government, and it is totally unacceptable for anyone to be hurt during such protests.”
He added that he has deployed members of the Operation Burst to take the front role while police officers take the back seat as citizens continue to protest peacefully.
