AFTER what could be called a shameless and disgraceful act that played out last week Wednesday with the protest at the National Assembly gate the President Muhammadu Buhari led-administration has ordered the release the of Super Falcons’ participation and the winning bonuses in the 10th Women’s Africa Nations Cup.
In a statement signed by Kenechukwu N, on behalf of the Accountant General of the Federation, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation has released the mandate to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for payment of Naira equivalent of US$1,173,820.00 at N305/$ to Nigeria Football Federation to pay outstanding winning bonuses for Super Eagles in the 2018 World Cup Qualifying Matches and for the Super Falcons’ participation in the 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The directive said the of sum of N358 million for the Super Falcons, was paid by Central bank of Nigeria on Thursday.
ReportersAtLArge learnt that the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, gave the approval to the CBN to release the fund to avoid further embarrassment for the nation as the ladies are ready to take on the FG.
Also, directive was given for N113.8 million to be released by Office of Accountant General of the Federation for the payment of winning bonus for the Super Eagles in the 2018 World Cup Qualifying matches.
The total fund released for both Super Falcons and Super Eagles to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for payment of the outstanding is N471.8m.
