Ahead of the switch on of the newly licensed radio station based in the city of Ibadan owned by the ace broadcaster and mediapreneur, Yẹmi Sonde, popularly known as “Jigan Akala”, the leadership of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), has visited the station.
The team led by the Director Engineering and Technology, Engr. Victoria Eke, during the visit, informed the management of 101.7 Yes FM Ibadan, on the need for professionalism in line with the ethics of regulations and proper inspection of the station’s facilities for the commencement of test transmission and thereafter commercial transmission of the radio station due course.
Eke who toured the media empire housing the radio station, was hosted by the proprietor of the radio, Yemi Sonde.
According to Eke, who checked through all the broadcasting equipments set for the radio station, lauded the management for putting the state of the art digital radio facilities in place for broadcasting on both digital and terrestrial platforms.
The team was thereafter taken on a tour of the facility at the transmission site of the Yemi Sonde Media House where all outdoor facilities were placed for adequate and effective broadcasting services the station is bringing forth.
The inspection team also visited some other facilities in the media house to make the broadcasting job seamless for personnel during the discharge of duties, one of such is the conducive rooms for personnel on night duties to sleep and refresh for the next day while the Academy was visited for training and retraining of personnel.
Eke then emphasized the need for the NBC DG to visit the media house based on the state of the art facilities housed in the media empire.
The Yes FM studio equipments and the conducive rooms housing the two studio were highly appreciated by the NBC representatives, and also for putting things together rightly and professionally, stating “Yes FM is more than ready”.
She advised the radio don on the need for sustainability, maintenance and putting up the standards due to his long time collaboration with the regulators during his biennial NBC/Yemi Sonde Broadcast Media Stakeholders Forum.
The 101.7 Yes FM live studio was named after the mentor of Yemi Sonde, late Atobatele Tajudeen Opaleye “Toba Opaleye Live Studio”
Sonde informed the NBC delegation that the station is fully prepared for test transmission and commercial transmission of Yes! FM Ibadan while he also briefed the team that based on their research, people are also ready and looking forward to the radio in the state.
The NBC team also had Mr. Raphael Akpan Zonal Director NBC Ìbàdàn, who confirmed the giant strides of the radio station that is yet to commence transmission such as the training and purchase of over 50 copies of NB Codes for all radio personnel, Engr. Ayo Ogunkorode, from Lagos Zonal office and many others while the Yes FM team had the GMD; Yemi Sonde, GM; Fola Folayan, HR & Admin; Chinaza Egelemba, the engineering team of and many other personnel.
