The Ministry of Aviation Wednesday dismissed a report that it had selected preferred bidders for the national carrier, Nigeria Air.
Its spokesman, James Odaudu, in a statement said it was false that Qatar Airways had been chosen as the preferred bidder.
“The report, coming just two days after the issuance of a request for proposal which was published in local and international news media, is not only false but capable of discrediting the process for the establishment of the airline, and discouraging interested parties” the statement indicated.
“We wish to state that throughout the process leading to the publication of the request for proposal, the guiding principle, has been transparency and accountability which we promised will remain till the final delivery of the project, and by which we stand,” he said.
REPORTERS AT LARGE recalls that the Nigerian government unveiled the name and logo of the new national flag carrier in July 2018. The national airline is named Nigeria Air. The unveiling was done at Farnborough Air Show in London.
