Members of Yoruba Mandate Group in Nigeria have expressed readiness to support Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s re-election ahead of the March 11 governorship election, and ready to provide adequate security and monitoring as a bid to allow the people’s collective choice prevail.
In the press statement signed by the group’s general coordinator, Akogun Banji Ojo, in Lagos, On Monday, read in part that election remains a cardinal pillar of democracy, and everyone’s opinion matters irrespective of class, gender and race with conscious adherence to the constitutional standing.
“This election will determine the fate of the progressive nature that Lagos, as the richest state in Nigeria, has enjoyed since 1999 from the prominent political school of thought founded by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu based on the real plurality of the Nigerian factor as against the backbone of tribalism, ethnicity or religion.
“The support for this present administration is strictly based on serious evaluation of economic and political factors, and the respect and value for human dignity tops the long list. Lagos has flourished tremendously, and the success is vividly visible and felt across all sectors.
“In Lagos, there are registered members ready to ensure that there’s no form of physical and financial intimidation or harassment, with adequate information consciousness in respect to security of lives, properties, rights and votes. The people’s voice must be properly protected from before, during and after the Guber election”.
