A 61-year-old professor at the University of Ibadan, Opeyemi Isaac Ajewole, was assassinated on Monday night by yet-unidentified assailants.
Ajewole, who was until his death worked as a lecturer in the university’s Department of Forest Resources Management, was slain on his way home to the Moniya neighbourhood of Ibadan. His remains have been left to UI Anatomy.
According to a source at the institution, Ajewole’s automobile was taken away after he was shot to death.
When contacted, Joke Akinpelu, Principal Assistant Registrar, Public Communications, at the University of Ibadan also verified the occurrence to the Daily Post on Tuesday.
Yes, it is accurate, Akinpelu said without providing any other details, adding that “However, we are unsure if they are hired assassins or armed robbers. He passed away yesterday. The occurrence took place yesterday.”
